The Romance of Ruin.
This series is a body of work created inspired by and appropriating the designs of William Morris.
No copy right infringement intended, all mr WM the Mans work.
William morris lived in east london, like myself. He found inspiration in the mundane, believed in the beautiful, and dreamed of an aesthetically pleasurable future.
Modern day Walthamstow is a far cry from what Morris would have a future utopia to be. It is cracking, disintegrating, dripping with dirt.
In combining the delicate textiles by Morris with the crumbling city i hope to stir the imagination. Create a new world, bring some of the beauty morris saw to our reality today.
